Harp Therapy

Leila Ariel has been trained to play the harp therapeutically for the sick and the dying. Harp therapy is not a performance instead, it is an interaction in which Leila musically attunes to the individual for whom she is playing in order to ease their suffering. As the musician, she uses her intuitive process to determine what that person needs in the moment.
Harp therapy has been shown to have many benefits. Music can be chosen to help bring a patient’s heart rate to a normal rhythm, which in turn helps to reduce blood pressure and increase oxygen, helping to improve the patient's quality of life. Pain distraction is another positive result of harp therapy as the music provides a focus for the patient outside of their body.  As they let the vibration of the music flow over them, they begin to forget about their discomfort, reducing and even eliminating their pain.  Individualized attention is another key principle of harp therapy - one on one interaction with patients can make an enormous difference in their daily lives.
Leila is available to play for those in hospice care, for nursing home residents, for hospital patients and for all those who can benefit from the healing sounds of the harp.
